Maricopa Seniors, Inc. - Residential Lock Box Program

What is the Residential Lock Box Program?
A residential lock box is a small metal box which is permanently mounted on the exterior front entry of your home. The box will hold copies of the exterior door (or another entry) keys. The lock box can only be accessed by the City of Maricopa Fire & Medical (MF&MD) Department personnel.
Why should I install a residential lock box?
In many emergency situations, an individual who calls 9-1-1 may not be able to open their door when first responders or emergency personnel arrive. This is especially true with senior citizens, those with disabilities or injuries, and children. In these instances, every second counts and having a key box will allow Maricopa Fire personnel access to your home without causing unnecessary damage. Without the box, first responders may have to break through a door or a window, causing damage, costing money and taking up valuable time.
The damage from a forced emergency entrance . . .

The alternative . . . no damage and a faster entry!

How does the home key box program work?
Once you receive the box, which is mailed or hand-delivered to your residence, simply mount it according to the instructions provided. Have a copy of any front door (or other home entry) key made and have the key copies ready to place in the key box. All keys should be clearly identified as to their use. Next, contact Daniel Wehle, Community Risk Reduction Specialist, City of Maricopa - Fire Prevention Division at 520-217-3021. His office will contact you to set up an appointment to lock your key(s) in the box. Maricopa Fire & Medical Department personnel are the only ones with access to the box.
