CGHELPS - Casa Grande Homeless Resource Center

The Resource Center is a true collaboration among many agencies serving the homeless. Organizationally, the Resource Center project would be managed by Community Action Human Resources Agency (CAHRA) and overseen by the Casa Grande Homeless Coalition made up of key community leaders and agency representatives.

Community Action Human Resources Agency (CAHRA)

Community Action Human Resources Agency (CAHRA) is a private, non-profit corporation providing for the identified needs of people and communities of Pinal County. CAHRA builds firm foundations in partnership with communities by stimulating family cohesiveness and self-reliance.

Community Service Assistance

  • Crisis and non-crisis utility assistance

  • Housing services, past due rent, 1st month rent & deposits

  • Repairs to electric, gas or water systems
  • Installation of adaptive aids including grab bars
  • Installation of aids to make toilet/showers handicapped accessible

  • Senior personal products

Casa Grande Homeless Resource Center

Direct services for CGHELPS Homeless Resource Center would be provided by the various agencies, while the Resource Center would act as a central registration and screening location, providing case management and connecting people to resources. Resource agencies invited to provide services at the Center include:

  • Sun Life Family Health Center (SLFHC)
  • Department of Economic Security
  • Family Assistance (Food Stamps, Benefits)
  • Child Support
  • Honoring Our Heroes Program (HOHP)
  • Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens
  • National Community Health Partners (NCHP)
  • Behavioral Health Agencies (Horizon Health and Wellness, Pinal Hispanic Council, Corazon, Helping Associates)
  • Pinal Housing Division
  • Social Security
  • Southern Arizona Legal Aid
  • Referrals as needed- Seeds of Hope Hot Lunch, St. Vincent De Paul, Courts

The Center is staffed by CAHRA, including a Coordinator, a support staff person, and direct service providers/case managers. Volunteers will also provide services, including receptionist and a navigator.

The ability to provide nursing examinations would provide the ultimate service necessary for these homeless individuals. To be able to identify their health issues and refer to other medical services would help their road to self-reliance possibly they will be able to obtain a home, a job and eventually improved health.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (to qualify for services):

  • Most recent utility bill(s). Must be original most current bills paid or unpaid.
  • Applicant identity original document verification: Driver's License or photo identification.
  • Original document verification/Social Security cards for all household members.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent legal residence status: Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, U.S Passport, verification of current Social Security Disability benefit, or proof of current legal resident status (original document).
  • Proof of Gross income (before deductions) for everyone in the household, for the past 30 days.
  • Proof of Residency - rental agreement or mortgage statement that shows your address.

Income must meet eligibility guidelines and gross income must be verified before approval. Acceptable original document verification includes but is not limited to:

For Earned Income:

  • Paystubs
  • Employer statement that is signed and dated and must include the following: Name, address and telephone # of the employer, frequency of receipt, gross amount of income and the day of the week that pay is received.

For Unearned Income:

  • Social Security Benefit Award Letter
  • DES Household Summary Printout-CAP1 & CAP2
  • Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE) print-out
  • Unemployment insurance payments printout
  • Court records

Some programs may require additional information including lease and/or deed to property.
